The festival, which spans over 20 years, will host its first ever "Snow Day." Snow and ice made roads treacherous Saturday, Dec. 1, the day of Cans Film Festival. To give residents another chance to take advantage of the offer, and to give The Salvation Army more food for local pantries, the company announced a make-up date of Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008.
The past event gathered over 6,000 cans of food which weighed in at 6,125 pounds. Details for the event are as follows: Come to the theater with your family before 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19th and see a movie for five cans of food per person. Everyone who brings an additional 10 cans (15 total) will receive an additional pass to come back another day. Check the newspaper for showtimes, call 1-800-FANDANGO, or visit http://www.wehrenberg.com/.
The Galaxy 14 Cine is located on Hwy 63 south, near Lowe's and the new Fleet Farm. All cans are accepted, but the following types of canned foods are preferred:

- Canned chicken
- Canned fruit – any kind, pears, peaches, fruit cocktail

Local volunteers will be collecting the food at the door and the Channel One Food Bank will transport the cans to the Rochester Salvation Army food shelf. The Army is also Channel One’s largest satellite food shelf in the area, serving approximately 400 families per month.
