Red Cross Kicks-Of 4th Annual Heroes Campaign with Variety of Events

"The Red Cross Heroes Campaign" is a grassroots campaign in which local businesses, schools, groups, and individuals pledge to raise dollars, through any legal means they choose, for the Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Heroes have come up with fun and unique fundraisers in May and June for the general public to support.

Open Mic Nights Thursdays in May, 7:30 pm at Goonie’s Comedy Club (7 2nd St. SW)
Enjoy the laughs and no cover charge! At the end of the each show Goonie’s will ask for Red Cross donations.

May 1-28
Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend!

Buy raffle tickets for a chance to win 14 karat white gold Journey earrings or 14 karat white gold hinged bangle bracelet, valued at $1,495 donated by Hight & Randall Jewelers. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20, available M-F, 8:30 am-5 pm, at the Red Cross, 310 14th St. SE, Rochester.

2nd Annual “Hiking Heroes” Walk-a-thon

Join the Walk-a-thon, with the option of either a 5-mile or 10-mile route on the bike paths in and around Rochester (each walker gets to choose how far they’d like to “hike”). Please consider joining in the fun by walking with the “Hiking Heroes” and getting pledges for your efforts or simply supporting other walkers with your own generous pledge. All dollar amounts are welcome. The goal is to raise at least $2,500. Bikers, runners, skaters, etc. are also welcome to participate. If you wish to walk with us, please register by calling Melanie at 287-2254.

You’re Invited to Couples Night

Summer entertaining...is your home ready for that “special event”? Come to Home Design Studio, 3777 40th Ave. NW on Tuesday, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Enjoy FREE beverages, hors d’oeuvres and desserts! Casino, cooking demonstrations, and much more! Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Home Federal Savings Bank, 1016 Civic Center Dr. will wash cars and serve hot dogs while you wait. Sit at the picnic table while you eat lunch, enjoy the sunshine, and leave with a sparkling clean car.

The Sloppy Donkeys Band!
Looking for a fun night out on the town? Come to the Sloppy Donkeys Heroes Party and have fun listening, dancing, and partying on Saturday from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at Boomers Lounge, 3737 40th Avenue, NW, Rochester.

June 14
2nd Annual Young Heroes Run, Jog, or Walk-a-thon in Kasson

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the West Jaycee Park in Kasson. Event begins at 10:30 a.m. (rain or shine) and will proceed along 8th Avenue NW to the bike path and on to Mantorville’s Riverside Park (approx. 2.5 miles). Ages 3-18 welcome to participate. Children 3-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum of $10 in pledges per youth participant required at time of registration. Help us collect donations from family, friends, and neighbors. Prizes will be awarded to top pledge collectors. Lunch provided for everyone who completes the trek! Goody Bags, door Prizes, and fun for all! All checks may be made out to the American Red Cross.
